The veterinarian begins your pet’s visit with a whole-body exam to get a better idea of the progression of long-term illnesses, the presence of uncomfortable symptoms and possible signs of disease. Our team works together to provide a comprehensive picture of your little companion’s overall well-being with x-rays to examine their internal health and blood work to test for early signs of disease. Radiographs are most often used in veterinary care to identify obvious abnormalities in your pet’s body, such as damaged bones or teeth, ingested foreign objects, or fluid buildup in the body. In older animals, they can find the beginnings of orthopedic and joint problems. Testing your pet’s blood can offer insight on everything from an overactive thyroid or kidney disease to diabetes or liver disease. Complicated conditions, such as Cushing’s disease, can be diagnosed swiftly when there are baseline blood tests to compare back to over the years. These are paired with testing the urine and feces for other signs of disease.
